adidas sponsors six of the biggest football clubs in the world, including Manchester United, Real Madrid & Bayern Munich, with a total of over 1 billion global fans. adidas wanted to establish themselves as the football brand for influencers whilst giving these fans a chance to become part of their club’s history.
In a football first, we gave fans the chance to design the kit that their team will wear in the 2017/18 season.
We did this by developing a best in class activation that drew in football fans and made them feel like they contributed to the future of their club.
Our creative idea was Creator Studio: a social campaign that saw adidas co-create with artists and influencers to challenge all Creators (influencers) to be first to design their teams’ third kit. Once submitted, fans were encouraged to vote for the favourite which then led to a shortlist of a top 100 for each club. The winners for each club were then chosen by a panel that consisted of some of each clubs most iconic players.
